Finding Books on the Shelf Using the Library of Congress Classification System

This guide offers instructions on how to find books on the shelves of the MassBay Libraries using the Library of Congress Classification System and the Minuteman Catalog

MassBay Community College uses the Library of Congress (LC) Classification System to organize the books on the shelf. This system has similiarities to, but marked difference from, the Dewey Decimal System, which is used at smaller public libraries and most K-12 school libraries.

Choose the tabs to learn more about the LC system, how the materials at MassBay's libraries are organized, and how to locate the book or other material you would like to use.
